We invite you to join us for an evening of cultivating joy and learning with Huni Kuin leader Nawa Siã and the medicine of rapé (pronounced hapé). We will gather in community to learn about the powerful medicine of 'Rume' Tobacco from the Brazilian Amazon and how this sacred medicine is held and utilized in the Huni Kuin culture.
Participants will be invited to receive rapé administered by Nawa Siã and the Nawabu team, but it is not mandatory to receive the medicine. This event is a great opportunity for those who have been feeling the call to connect with Amazonian traditions and also those who are already familiar.
Nawa Siã will also be sharing his spiritual chants and music with us to guide us through the evening as we come together in community to dance and sing.
** This event is family-friendly and kids are welcome **
NAWA SIÃ
Nawá Siã is a young leader from Pinuya Village, who has completed the highest and most sacred initiation of the Huni Kuin People at a young age – the diet of Muka. He is recognized for his exceptional dedication to studying medicine chants (Huni Meka) and healing prayers (Pakarin) and creating unique songs and melodies. Since the age of 17, he has been traveling across Brazil, and now at age 30, his work can be found on digital platforms such as Spotify and Bandcamp. Siã brings the strength and energy of the new generation and inspires younger generations to follow the path of medicine and learn from the teachings of their elder, Kupi Huni Kuin.
